There are still openings at the Island Garden Holiday Camp for any of the girls that want to get some instruction in over the break. Three days, 9am - 3pm costs $160, if you want to go one day they will prorate it. Still seeing if Woody wants to get one day in.

Lightning convincing win against St Bernard
While it may seem simplistic, at 5:20 in on the first video there is a not so subtle reminder to all parents to make sure that all our daughters come to games properly equipped.

We needed this
Lightning defeats Garden City Cashwell in a lopsided win with every Lightning player in the scoring column. A good game to work on some of the things that get us in trouble in more competitive games. The girls did a good job of playing hard and concentrating on what their responsibilities were despite the score. Defense, good or bad, becomes a habit and the girls worked extremely hard in the man to man. Some great new plays added to the mix seemed to be working well.

Tough win against Garden City
It was nice to see Caroline and Mary Beth last night!
Tough game for the Lightning last night who were very fortunate to come away with a win. Sometimes it just seems like nothing seems to be working, difficulty shooting, rebounding and defense, and you just have to show heart and determination and figure out a way to walk away with a win. The girls should be proud of themselves for doing just that by toughing it out on an "off" night and scraping out the victory down the stretch. Brush off your shoulders and look forward to the next game... this Sat. against St Rose who is an undefeated 3-0 in super league so far. Get ready!
Hard work in practice wins games.... games are won and lost on Wednesday nights from 5:00 to 6:30.

Tremendous Effort!
Great effort and great heart was shown by the whole team in a tough loss against a very good Lightning/Prisco team tonight. Hard to swallow but nights like tonight have to happen and will make this team even better. These two teams will meet again.

Lightning's revenge!
Great win on Saturday against the same Future Stars team that barely defeated the Hudson Lightning at Pace only a couple weeks before.
Saturday, May 30, 2009
Victory is sweet!
WOW! All of the girls worked very hard and had a lot of fun on their way to three victories in two days. Hudson Lightning reaped the rewards of crisp passing, unselfish play, relentless defense and phenomenal rebounding on both Friday night and all day Saturday. Parents, coaches and each and every one of the girls should be extremely proud of their great team play and tremendous effort.
The Hudson Lightning continues to improve with each and every game.... with every single team member contributing their best effort on every play and outstanding coaching from Matt and Allen there is no telling how great these girls will become. The sky's the limit! Bring on the Lakers,Cavaliers or Magic! ... well, bring on Yorktown anyway!

All the kids had a wonderful time today! After working very hard in the first victory some of the girls, family and friends, got a chance to cool off and enjoy some ice cream as well as one another's company. AJ looks resplendent in pink.
They also gave some goats an opportunity to check out a few real farm animals.
Pleasant Day in Pleasantville
The girls battled every minute on both ends of the floor and today it paid-off! Great passing, hardnosed defense, fantastic play from the bench and some unbelievable rebounding led Hudson Lightning to two impressive victories over scrappy, well coached opposition in spite of some questionable officiating.

A very long day in Sayville
Whew! Three games in one day was very tough on the girls but they fought and scrapped until the very end! Against older stronger girls the Hudson Lightning held their own and never gave up winning their first game and dropping the last two.
First 1/2 of Prisco/Hudson, watch Blue #11 deck Yellow #24 at about 2:20 in w/ a hard foul on the fast break. Mac hits a sick jumper at 3:30 in.
Second 1/2. Blue gets nearly every rebound and loose ball in this clip. Watch blue #42 dominate the offensive glass.
Parents should be very proud of the girls perseverance and determination. Experience against older stronger competition is a learning experience that will have enormous benefits and pay off against future opponents.
Tomorrow is another day..... and another opportunity. Good luck to all the girls tomorrow at 9 in Sayville!

Pro Hoops
Pro Hoops will be running a camp this summer at Grenville Baker Boys & Girls in Locust Valley. You can find a bit more info as well as online registration at Grenville Baker's website here. You can also find a downloadable pdf and registration form here at the ProHoops site.
Rumor has it they will also be running a camp at East Woods School in Oyster bay and that someone we all know might be helping out with the girl's camp. Here's a pdf with info on the East Woods camp as well as a registration form.
There are links to other camps as well as to the Pro Hoops website in the "useful sites" section on this page.
Hey! Maybe we could work out some kind of group discount or even a little something for promoting their camp? ;o)
