Extra Credit

Evangelia, Amara and Woody attended Marc Von Essen's Game7 Boot Camp on Sunday May 9th. They all worked extremely hard and had a good time together too. Marc and George gave them a lot to think about and a bunch of drills with a chart to keep track of what they do during the week for homework. Stone will be joining them this Sunday as well. It shows a lot of dedication to go out to Rockville Centre on a Sunday afternoon and work your butt off the way they did. The three of them should be extremely proud of themselves. If they continue to work as hard as they did this past Sunday it will certainly show in their game.

Marc is giving our girls a lot of individual attention, he mentioned someone in Queens might just be working harder than they are and that the effort they put in might make the difference.

Metro Championship Weekend

Where the heck were we? Was it Ramapo? Sloatsberg? Suffern? Hillburn? Mahwah?!

Beautiful weekend, very nice facility and the girls played very hard. The effort and determination were certainly there. Lightning never got in a rhythm after willing three victories and the shots just didn't fall in the Championship game.

Hopefully we'll see this team again and have the opportunity to unleash the "A" game on them!

GO LIGHTNING!

Hard fought win v the Rockland Rockets in the semis though.

Fun at the regionals

It's not all serious at the regionals. The girls are just as goofy as they usually are.

Regionals

Two great wins! These teams were not pushovers by any means. Lots of hard work, great execution of the plays on the offensive end and stifling defense kept the girls in both games.

The morning game against the Staten Island Diamonds was a thriller with the Lightning turning it on in the second half for a 14 point win.

The second game was probably a little closer than it should have been. The girls came out a little flat in the first half and the officiating left a little something to be desired... the refs were consistent in that regard if not in any other. The Lightning struggled through it and solid defense and a very physical tone was set by the gritty determination of the bench players. FANTASTIC job by the entire bench in this one, would have been a different story completely without their effort. Lightning was never really able to put the Falcons away and ended up winning a 40-34 nailbiter... much closer than the score even indicates with Stone hitting an and1 in the closing minute and Ashleigh putting in an incredible buzzer beater to finish it.

GREAT JOB!

Lightning plays the pool 2 second place team tomorrow morning and should they win that they move on to the Championship later that afternoon.
